Many of the men who have worn the blue and gold (and purple and gold) are no longer with us. Others walk the streets of Tupelo and Lee County every day. They also walk the streets of Jackson, Memphis, Nashville, Dallas, New York, Washington and other cities and lands throughout the world. Those that have coached and played for the blue and gold have represented Tupelo not only on the athletic field but also on the battlefields of World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan as well as in leadership positions in our state and nation. Over the past century Tupelo High School indeed built a football tradition-a tradition not on wins and losses alone, but a tradition of building men. These men are rich and poor, successful and unsuccessful and still we share the bond of having been football players and coaches at THS. Our numbers include doctors, salesmen, lawyers, soldiers, pastors, truck drivers, teachers, coaches, policemen, laborers, politicians and many other roles in society. I believe all that have played and coached at THS will agree that our experiences as a THS football team member played a significant part in shaping who we are today. This chronology is dedicated to all those who have worn and supported the Blue and Gold.
